Role

Lead Product Designer

Peoople is the social-commerce to discover the best recommendations of restaurants, books, movies, series and much more thanks to your friends and favourite Influencers.

What was the challenge?

Create and document a Design System from scratch to ensure product consistency and establish standards to optimize the Interface Design process of Peoople.

What was the role in this project?

I was in charge of the definition, creation and supervision of an entire system that provides a unified set of UI, design rules and patterns in order to establish a common language in the product and be able to scale and grow it in a managed way.

Methodology and UX Process

We established an advanced Design System inside of a leading tech company to unify and streamlining processes between design and engineering teams, ensuring scalability and growth.

Throughout the process, we adhered to a clear methodology, consistently navigating through these key steps:

  • UX research

Provide insights into user needs and align with the requirements of the front-end framework

  • UI Design

Establish standards and generate the necessary variants and properties

  • Implementation QA

Rigorously test and quality assure the implementation of the components into the interface

  • Documentation

Create a comprehensive style guide and document every detail or specification

Documentation

Documentation is consistently provided on the same page as the component to elaborate on any created use cases. This includes:

  • Clear explanations of the element's nature and typical usage, supplemented with occasional dos and don'ts for context and clarification.
  • Visual examples to ensure a clear understanding of the discussed concepts.
  • Guidelines outlining when and how to appropriately use the component.

UI Considerations

When rolling out all the screens, careful attention was paid so that the hierarchies were respected. White space was used generously to keep the layouts uncluttered and to balance all the design, and colour blue was the common thread of the brand identity.
